Root Canal Treatment on Sohna Road, Gurugram
Root canal treatment saves a tooth whose inner tissue, the pulp, has become infected or badly inflamed, usually from deep decay, a crack, or repeated work on the same tooth. Instead of removing the tooth, the infected tissue is cleaned out, the inside of the tooth is disinfected and sealed, and the tooth keeps working for years. At OralH Dental Clinic in Ninex City Mart, Sector 49, root canals are among the treatments patients come to us for most.

Signs You May Need a Root Canal
- Pain from hot or cold food that lingers after the food is gone
- Throbbing pain, often worse at night or when lying down
- Swelling, or a small pimple-like bump on the gum near one tooth
- A tooth that has turned darker than the others
- Pain when biting down on one particular tooth
Any of these is a reason to have the tooth checked soon. An infection inside a tooth does not heal on its own, and waiting usually makes the treatment bigger.
How the Treatment Is Done
Examination and X-ray
The tooth is examined and an X-ray shows how far the infection has spread and the shape of the root canals. Dr Nishi Tandon explains what she sees and what the plan is before anything starts.
Numbing and cleaning
The tooth and gum are numbed fully. The infected pulp is removed and the canals are cleaned and shaped. Most patients feel pressure, not pain.
Sealing
Once the canals are clean, they are filled with a biocompatible material and sealed so bacteria cannot get back in. Some teeth are finished in one sitting; teeth with a larger infection or several canals may need a second visit.
Protecting the tooth
A root-treated tooth becomes more brittle, so back teeth usually need a crown. The crown is shade-matched to your other teeth.
Aftercare
- Chew on the other side until the permanent filling or crown is in place
- Take any medicine prescribed for the full course, even if the pain settles quickly
- Keep brushing and flossing, gently around the treated tooth at first
- Get in touch if swelling or pain gets worse, or a bump returns on the gum
- Come back for the crown: a tooth left without one can crack or become reinfected

Frequently asked questions
Is root canal treatment painful?
It is done under local anaesthesia, so the treatment itself is usually not painful. Some soreness for a day or two afterwards is common and settles with ordinary painkillers.
How many visits does a root canal take?
Some teeth are finished in a single sitting. Molars with several canals or a larger infection may need a second visit. You will know after the X-ray.
Will I need a crown afterwards?
Most back teeth do, because a treated tooth is weaker and needs protection when you chew. Dr Nishi will advise based on how much of the tooth remains.
What happens if I delay the treatment?
The infection can spread, the pain can increase, and the tooth may be lost or need a bigger treatment later.
