Wisdom Tooth Removal in Gurgaon
Not every wisdom tooth has to go, so the first job in wisdom tooth removal in Gurgaon is deciding whether yours should. Many people arrive after a week of pain at the back of the jaw, others after an X-ray flagged a tooth growing sideways. At OralH Dental Clinic, the tooth is examined first, and you hear plainly whether it should come out, can wait, or can stay.

When removal makes sense
- The gum over a half-erupted tooth keeps swelling and getting infected
- Food traps behind the tooth and decay has started, on it or on its neighbour
- The tooth is pushing against the molar in front
- There is a cyst or infection around the tooth
- You cannot clean it, however carefully you brush
A wisdom tooth that has come through straight, can be cleaned and causes no trouble can usually be left alone and watched at check-ups.
Simple or surgical?
The X-ray decides most of this. A tooth that has fully erupted can often be lifted out much like any other. An impacted tooth, sitting under the gum or at an angle, needs a small cut in the gum and sometimes has to be removed in sections. Either way the area is numbed first, so you should feel pressure and movement, not sharp pain. Lower teeth lie close to a nerve, which is why the position of the roots is checked before anything begins.
Planning the day
A little preparation makes the first evening easier:
- Eat a proper meal beforehand unless you are told otherwise
- Tell the dentist about every medicine you take, especially blood thinners
- Stock soft, cool food at home, such as curd, khichdi and soup that has cooled
- Leave the rest of the day free, and keep the next day light after a surgical removal
The first days of healing have their own rules. Our day-by-day recovery guide covers swelling, food and the warning signs of dry socket.

Frequently asked questions
Should all four wisdom teeth come out together?
Not by default. It depends on which ones are causing trouble and on how much you want to do in one visit. This is agreed after the X-ray.
Can the tooth be removed while it is infected?
Sometimes the infection needs to settle first with medicine. The dentist decides once the area has been examined.
How long does the removal take?
A simple removal is often quick. An impacted tooth takes longer, and you will be given a realistic idea once the X-ray has been seen.
Will I have stitches?
After a surgical removal you may. You will be told whether they dissolve or need to be taken out.
